Clara Byrd Baker Student Bealer Honored At General Assembly For Epilepsy Poster
Milaya Bealer, a fourth grader at Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School, was chosen as one of 12 first place winners in the Annual Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia Poster Contest, “Use a Helmet, Prevent Epilepsy.” There were 889 entries from students throughout Virginia. The entries were put on display in hospitals in Richmond and were judged by people with epilepsy, their family members, doctors and staff, as well as members of the Epilepsy Foundation. The 12 most popular images were selected as the winners of the contest.
The 12 winners were honored at the Virginia General Assembly, where students met with their state representatives and had photos taken. Students also received a certificate which features a picture of their artwork. The 12 winning works of art will be part of the Epilepsy Foundation’s 2012-2013 calendar which will be sent to doctor’s offices, schools, and other state organizations. Students and their respective schools will receive a copy of the calendar.
