LHS Student Emily Council In the Running For National Merit Scholarship

Emily Council, daughter of Loren Council and Kim Wheatley, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Emily competed nationally with 16,000 other semifinalists. Semifinalists who advance to Finalist standing in the competition meet the highest academic standards and must score competitively on two SAT tests.  All winners of Merit Scholarship® awards are chosen from the Finalist group, based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments, without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference. Emily will move on to compete for one of the Merit Scholarships to be awarded in March.
