Matthew Whaley Second Graders’ Drawings Appear In “Goodbye Balloon”  

Local author Patricia Steele recently visited Matthew Whaley Elementary and Susan Alis’ second grade class to show them a final copy of her book “Goodbye Balloon,” which is illustrated with drawings contributed by all of Alis’ students. The students’ parents were invited for a special reading, and Alis’ class gave a small reception afterward for Steele. She also presented to the children special commemorative bookmarks with their artwork from the book, as well as thank-you pencils.
