LHS Student Maria Hart Selected For Governor’s Spanish Academy
Maria Hart, wearing the traditional Mexican sombrero, joins some of the nearly 60 other students from public and private schools across the state chosen by merit to attend the Governor’s Spanish Academy this summer. Students enjoyed a wide variety of activities including decorating papier mache globes for a big bonfire called Las Fallas; the "running of the bulls" similar to the annual event in Pamplona, Spain; cooking, eating and using Spanish every minute of the day. Attendance in this academy is an honor which allows language studies to become an entertaining and fun summer activity.
