“Seastar Sunrise Show” Debuts At Stonehouse Elementary
Stonehouse Elementary School fifth graders have launched their student-run morning TV show, the “Seastar Sunrise Show.” Students research information for the show, write the script, run the audio visual equipment, and act as news anchors for the program. The morning show is broadcast live, and each classroom can watch their fellow students lead them in the Pledge of Allegiance, find out the school lunch menu for the day, get a weather report, and other important school announcements. “It gives our 5th graders an opportunity to learn different aspects of producing a news show,” said Sandra Currin, program coordinator. “The responsibility of everything from filming to reporting rests with the students.” A taping of the show is available for viewing on the Stonehouse Elementary website.
