Registration Now Open For 3rd Annual Sentara Sleighbell 5K; Proceeds Benefit SHIP
Plans have begun for the third annual Sentara Sleighbell 5K to be held Dec. 10 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in front of the Geddy Outpatient Center. The winner of this year’s Sleighbell T-shirt design contest is Lyndsey Dannon, a 2011 graduate of Warhill High School who is attending Longwood University. Last year’s event drew more than 600 participants and raised nearly $10,000. Proceeds from the race benefit the R.F. Wilkinson YMCA’s youth programs, and the WJCC School Health Initiative Program’s (SHIP) after school Challenge Clubs. Last year, the clubs helped 1,560 students who participated in 72 different SHIP Challenge Clubs. The race is designed to bring together everyone from the schools and community to participate in either the 1-mile fun run or the 5K race. To register, visit www.wjccship.com and click on the icon on the right that features Lyndsey’s T-shirt design. For questions about the Sleighbell event, call Janice Kailos (SHIP Community Outreach Specialist) at (757) 603-6423.
